Honda has unveiled the CBR500R FOUR, a new middleweight supersport motorcycle that replaces the familiar 500cc parallel-twin configuration with a 502cc inline-four engine. The motorcycle produces 69bhp at 11,000rpm and comes with an extensive electronics package, including Honda's E-Clutch system.
The model has been revealed for European markets, but its launch in India is unlikely.
The new engine produces 46.3Nm of peak torque at 10,500rpm, and Honda claims a top speed of 210kmph. Its high-revving character marks a departure from the outgoing CBR500R, which used a parallel-twin engine and focused on more accessible performance.

The UK-spec version comes with Honda E-Clutch as standard. Its throttle-by-wire system supports five riding modes: Standard, Sport, Urban and two customisable User modes.
The electronics package also includes Honda Selectable Torque Control and wheelie control.
The motorcycle uses a steel twin-tube diamond frame, with the engine contributing to the structure, along with a cast-aluminium swingarm. Suspension duties are handled by a 41mm KYB upside-down front fork and a Pro-Link rear monoshock with preload adjustment.
The CBR500R FOUR has a kerb weight of 189kg, a seat height of 780mm and a wheelbase of 1,408mm. It gets a 14-litre fuel tank, while ground clearance stands at 135mm.
Honda has adopted a forward-leaning riding position, with low handlebars inspired by racing motorcycles. The fuel tank and rear section have also been shaped to provide the rider with better support during more aggressive riding.
