Honda has launched the NX500 E-Clutch in India. Its new automated clutch system allows gear shifts without using the lever.
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has officially introduced the NX500 featuring its innovative E-Clutch technology. Priced at ₹7.44 lakh (ex-showroom), this new variant represents a big premium of ₹1.11 lakh over the standard version equipped with a traditional manual clutch.
The highlight of this update is the proprietary E-Clutch system, which uses electronic actuators to automate clutch operation during gear changes and when coming to a complete stop. While the rider must still manually operate the gear pedal to shift, the need to pull the clutch lever is eliminated. This provides a bridge between manual control and automatic convenience, though a conventional lever remains available for those who prefer manual overrides at any time.
Despite the addition of the electronic hardware, the NX500 remains a relatively lightweight middleweight adventure tourer. The system adds only 3 kg to the overall mass, bringing the total kerb weight to 199 kg. Beyond the clutch mechanism, the motorcycle remains mechanically identical to the existing model. It continues to be powered by a 471 cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine that produces 46 bhp at 8,500 rpm and 43 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm.

The chassis setup also carries over, featuring a USD front fork and a rear monoshock. Braking is handled by twin 296 mm discs at the front and a single 240 mm disc at the rear, supported by dual-channel ABS. For electronics, the bike retains a 5-inch TFT display and switchable traction control, maintaining its reputation as a rugged and straightforward machine.
Available in white and black colour options, the NX500 E-Clutch is positioned as a premium offering for riders seeking ease of use without sacrificing the engagement of a manual gearbox. Bookings are now open at all authorised Honda BigWing dealerships across the country.
