Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) reported its sales for January 2026, and the two-wheeler giant’s total wholesales(domestic + export) for the month stood at 574,411 units, overtaking rival Hero MotoCorp. In comparison, Hero, which traditionally remains the leader in the two-wheeler space, sold 557,871 units during the same period. Both manufacturers largely operate in the mass-market segments.
Honda’s domestic sales stood at 519,579 units, while exports contributed 54,832 units in January this year. The company registered a 29 per cent year-on-year growth when compared to January 2025. In contrast, Hero MotoCorp fared better in domestic sales with 520,208 units, while 37,663 units were exported from its manufacturing facilities in India.

Hero MotoCorp still leads the two-wheeler space with respect to year-to-date (April 2025 - January 2026) volumes. The company has sold 53,12,420 units so far in FY2026, comprising 49,96,575 units in domestic sales and 315,845 units in exports. Meanwhile, Honda trails behind closely with 52,53,205 units, which includes 47,23,979 units in domestic volumes and 529,226 units in exports.
Honda also announced the company expanded to newer cities in January with dealerships in Erode, Bilaspur, Moradabad and Udhampur. The two-wheeler maker also issued a voluntary recall for its premium models - CB1000 Hornet SP and CBR650R - for faulty components.
