These models are slated for global market introduction starting in 2026.

Honda is gearing up to showcase its innovative leap forward at the upcoming CES 2025, set to take place in Las Vegas, Nevada, from January 7-10, 2025. At the event, Honda will present the world premiere of two prototype models that will represent the forthcoming Honda 0 Series. These models are slated for global market introduction starting in 2026, underscoring Honda's continued commitment to cutting-edge automotive technology and sustainability.

Building on its CES 2024 unveiling of the Honda 0 Series and its "Thin, Light, and Wise" development philosophy, Honda’s CES 2025 press conference on January 7 will shift the spotlight to the "Wise" aspect of its vision. This session will delve into Honda's original vehicle operating system (OS), an in-house developed platform designed to elevate its vehicles into the realm of Software-Defined Vehicles (SDVs).

The introduction of this proprietary OS is poised to redefine the driving experience through advanced automation and seamless integration with smart technologies. Honda will also provide a detailed overview of the System on Chip (SoC) that powers this transformation, offering insights into how the Honda 0 Series aims to deliver unprecedented value in the SDV landscape.

In addition to technological advancements, Honda plans to introduce a new energy service designed to complement the Honda 0 Series models. This initiative aligns with Honda's broader goals for achieving carbon neutrality. While specific details about the service remain under wraps, its integration with the 0 Series portfolio signals Honda's intent to merge innovation with sustainability, addressing the growing demand for eco-friendly transportation solutions.

Honda’s development of a proprietary OS reflects a growing trend among automakers to control the software ecosystems of their vehicles. By creating a dedicated OS tailored to its hardware and user experience goals, Honda aims to compete with tech-savvy rivals while maintaining its own identity. The OS is expected to play a pivotal role in automated driving technologies, enhancing safety and efficiency for drivers and passengers alike.

However, the challenge lies in execution. Honda will need to ensure that its software not only meets consumer expectations for reliability and ease of use but also stays competitive with the rapid advancements in AI and connected car technologies seen across the industry.

Honda’s ambition to roll out Software-Defined Vehicles highlights a significant pivot for the automaker. As traditional car manufacturers face increasing competition from tech-focused companies, the integration of proprietary operating systems and advanced chips will be critical in maintaining relevance. Rivals like Tesla and established players including Mercedes-Benz and BMW are already leveraging SDV technologies, putting pressure on Honda to deliver a standout product.

Moreover, Honda’s emphasis on carbon neutrality resonates with global regulatory trends and consumer demand for greener alternatives. Yet, as with any new energy service, questions remain about infrastructure readiness, pricing, and real-world feasibility.
