Honda has crossed a significant milestone by delivering over six crore two-wheelers in India. The brand started its journey back in 2001 with the Activa scooter. It took 23 years to cross this milestone number, which further testifies to the confidence that Indian customers have for Honda.
“Achieving this sales milestone is a testament to the trust and confidence that Indian consumers have placed in the brand Honda,” reiterated Tsutsumu Otani, MD, President & CEO, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India.

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India achieved its first milestone figure of 1 crore sales in 2012. After three years crossed its 2 crore sales and in just three years, in 2017 it crossed 3 crores. The journey from 3 crore to 4 crore sales was the quickest and the marque managed to achieve this in just a year. However, it took six years to cross the 6 crore sales milestone.
Periodic updates and the introduction of new products propelled Honda to this position. It’s diverse line-up in our country now ranges from entry-level 100 cc commuter motorcycles and scooters to luxurious 1800 cc luxury sports tourers and ADVs. There are two outlets to retail this diverse portfolio. Honda’s Red Wing outlet distributes the Activa and Dio scooters, along with Shine 100, Unicorn, Hornet, and CB200X motorcycles. While the brand’s Big Wing outlet retails premium models like the Honda NX500, Transalp 700, Africa Twin, and Goldwing, its 350 cc range – Honda CB350, CB350 H’Ness, CB350RS, and the CB300F and CB300R.
