HORIBA India, which began operations in Pune in 2016, has three manufacturing facilities in India.
Horiba India has inaugurated its first Hydrogen Internal Combustion Engine (H2-ICE) Test Bed Facility at its Technical Center in Chakan, Pune. The new facility represents a significant investment of approximately ₹28-30 crores and supports India's green energy objectives.
The test bed facility has an engine testing capacity of up to 380 kW, targeting the Indian commercial vehicle segment. It aligns with the government's Make-in-India and Atmanirbhar Bharat missions, reinforcing Horiba's commitment to sustainable technologies.
The facility will feature an Experience Zone showcasing advanced technologies like the hydrogen gas analyzer, hydrogen fuel flow meter, and engine dynamometer. It meets global safety standards and is designed to address the evolving demands of the Indian market.
Speaking on this new inauguration Rajeev Gautam, Corporate Officer, Horiba Ltd., Japan and President, Horiba India said, “Horiba’s investment in this state-of-the-art facility underscores our commitment to a sustainable future with Make-in-India products and solutions. The first-ever Hydrogen Internal Combustion Engine Test Bed facility took a kick-start from India in the entire Global Horiba group, and this pivotal step is a testament toward Horiba’s goal of reducing CO2 emissions by 42% by 2033 hence, achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.”

This new hydrogen engine testing facility marks a significant milestone in Horiba's commitment to sustainable and innovative technological solutions in India.
