The Creta Electric will get the steering wheel and drive selector from the Tucson facelift.
Hyundai is gearing up to launch a new all-electric model in India, the Creta EV, and it has now been spotted testing in India. The new spy shots reveal interesting details about the interior of the upcoming Creta Electric.
The new spy shots show that the Creta EV will have a new steering wheel which was also seen on the new Tucson facelift. The steering wheel will have the Hyundai logo in Morse Code, as also seen on many new Hyundai models. Furthermore, the Creta Electric will also get the same, steering column-mounted drive selector as the Tucson facelift, Ioniq 5 and more new Hyundai models. While the rest of the interior was under heavy camouflage, it hints that it will carry over the same design language as the recently launched Creta facelift.
The exterior of the Creta Electric was completely covered but few visible elements hint that its design will be similar to the standard Creta. It will get the same, inverted L-shaped LED DRLs and taillamps. However, the Creta EV will have 17-inch aero-designed alloy wheels that have become sort of a norm with EVs in India. While not visible, the Creta EV will also have a closed-off grille with the charging port mounted in the front bumper, like in the Kona Electric.
Hyundai has been extremely tight-lipped about the specifications of the Creta EV. It is expected to get a battery pack of up to 50 kWh and have a claimed range of around 450 km on a full charge.
Once launched, the Creta EV will compete with the MG ZS EV, Tata Harrier.ev, Tata Curvv.ev, Mahindra XUV400, Mahindra XUV.e8 and the upcoming Honda Elevate EV. As for the pricing, expect the Creta EV to cost more than ₹20 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
