The new trim for the Hyundai i20 sits between the Sportz and Asta trim and is ₹35,000 more expensive than the former.

Hyundai has silently launched the Sportz (O) trim of the i20. Prices for the mid-spec trim range between ₹8.74 lakh - 9.78 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new trim sits between the Sportz and Asta trim and is available with manual and automatic gearbox options. 

What’s changed?

Compared to the Sportz trim, the new Sportz (O) trim has features like a sunroof and a wireless charger. Furthermore, Hyundai has added padded leather door cards on the Sportz (O) trim. For these additions, Hyundai is asking for a premium of ₹35,000 over the Sportz trim.

What’s not changed?

The i20 Sportz (O) trim continues to get the 8-inch touchscreen infotainment, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, climate control, cooled glove box, rear AC vents, 16-inch steel wheels and more. 

Under the hood, it gets the same 1.2-litre petrol engine and is mated to either a 5-speed manual or a CVT. With the former, it produces 82 bhp and with the latter, it produces 87 bhp. Regardless of the gearbox, the engine produces 115 Nm.

Prices for the i20 range between ₹7.04 lakh and 11.21 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The premium hatchback from Hyundai continues to rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno (₹6.66 lakh - 9.88 lakh), Toyota Glanza (₹6.86 lakh - 9.99 lakh) and Tata Altroz (₹6.65 lakh - 10.65 lakh).
