Hyundai Motor India Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Charge Zone to install 60 kW DC fast chargers across 100 Hyundai dealerships across the country. Currently, only 19 Hyundai India dealerships have a 60 kW DC fast charger.
Furthermore, Hyundai India is investing in adding more 60 kW and 180 kW DC fast chargers across the country. Along with the chargers at its dealerships, it has 15 more charging stations in the cities and highways in nine states.
Jae Wan Ryu, Function Head - Corporate Planning, Hyundai India, said, “By engaging in a strategic partnership with CHARGE ZONE, we are moving towards strengthening HMIL’s EV charging network, with 100 Hyundai dealerships now to be equipped with DC 60 kW fast chargers. All EV users (Hyundai & Non-Hyundai) will benefit from the augmented network of DC fast charging stations, accessible through the ‘myHyundai’ app or through the Charge Zone app.”
Kartikey Hariyani, Founder & CEO, Charge Zone, commented, “Our collaboration with Hyundai India aims to enhance the infrastructure for 4-Wheeler Electric Vehicles (BEVs), ensuring easy access and dynamic availability, providing a reliable and seamless charging experience.”
All the new chargers will be available for electric vehicles (EVs) from other manufacturers as well, claims Hyundai India. These chargers are said to help EV chargers during their inter and intracity commute. Currently, the Ioniq 5 is the only EV in Hyundai’s lineup but it will soon launch the all-electric version of the Creta which is likely to launch in 2025.
