The Insteroid Concept is based on the Inster but is a more gaming-inspired EV.
Hyundai Motor Company has teased a new version of the Inster, called the Insteroid. The gaming-inspired electric vehicle (EV) concept will have a radical design, similar to a hillclimb racer. The Insteroid concept is expected to debut at the Seoul Mobility Show on April 4.
The teaser shared by Hyundai shows the silhouette of the Insteroid concept, which while largely remaining the same as the Inster, has a radical-looking rear wing and extensively flared wheel arches and bumpers. It still retains the Inster’s headlamps but the front bumper has been extended by a big margin and gets a large front splitter. It also has a roof scoop and a scooped-out bonnet.
Even the wheels of the Insteroid concept are quite radical. The boxy and flared wheel arches get air vents on the top which should help with the cooling. Inside the wheel arches are some cool alloy wheels and the only openings are three in-line holes, giving a very cyberpunk feel to the Insteroid.
At the back, apart from that huge wing, the Insteroid concept gets a flared rear bumper that extends multiple inches compared to the standard Inster. It still has a pixel design for the rear taillamps and two circular taillamps.
The Insteroid concept has various gaming-inspired design elements like a Pac-Man which can be visible inside. As per the teasers shared by Hyundai’s design boss, Simon Loasby, the Pac-Man inspiration can be seen in the instrument cluster. While the teaser video shows an antagonist from the legendary video game, it won’t be surprising to see if that will be showcased on the concept version.
Apart from this, the interior of the Insteroid concept is expected to be stripped out to the max. We expect that it will only have a single seat, for the driver, since it will focus more on being a fun EV.
