Just a fortnight ago, Hyundai released the first sketches of the upcoming IONIQ 9 electric SUV. Now the South Korean manufacturer shared the first glimpse of the three-row e-SUV. While it’s still a sketch, the teaser image hints at interesting details about Hyundai’s upcoming flagship electric SUV.
The IONIQ 9 will get one oval panel on both doors and the B-pillar. This panel will also house the side armrests for the front and rear passengers. The doors will also have trapezoidal storage spaces as well as circular speaker housings. The IONIQ 9 is likely to get a Bose-tuned audio system, if the sketches are to be believed. By the looks of it, the third-row passengers are likely to sit right on the rear axle, as is the case with most three-row SUVs. The IONIQ 9 will have seating for up to seven passengers and Hyundai claims there will be enough space for all occupants as it will have a flat floor throughout.
Hyundai’s upcoming flagship SUV will be based on the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) but details about the battery and powertrain will be announced closer to the global unveiling later this month.
The IONIQ 9 will employ ‘Aerosthetic’ design language which will be a blend of aerodynamic performance and aesthetic appeal. The previous teasers reveal the IONIQ 9 will get a curved roofline and a long wheelbase. The character lines are said to evoke the diagonal lines of the traditional Korean clothing, Hanbok. Like all IONIQ models, the IONIQ 9 will also get a parametric pixels design for the headlamps and it will also get a multi-spoke alloy wheel design.
