The new BMW 7 Series facelift is likely to make its India debut  either late this year or sometime in 2027. It is expected to be offered in petrol, diesel and fully electric powertrains.

The all-new BMW 7 Series facelift has broken covers globally. The luxury saloon has received a comprehensive overhaul over the outgoing model in terms of design and new technologies borrowed from the Neue Klasse range. Production of the updated 7 Series is scheduled to commence in July 2026.  The new 7 Series continues to be available in petrol, diesel, plug-in hybrid and fully-electric i7 derivatives. 

2027 BMW 7 Series Facelift: Design

The new 7 series facelift gets significant updates in its exterior styling when compared to the current model, even though the overall shape is retained. At the front, the car retains its split headlamp setup, now updated with a new lighting signature. Slim DRLs sit at the top, while the main headlamp units are placed vertically below. The facelift also introduces a redesigned bumper and more defined bonnet lines. The illuminated kidney grille continues, but now features horizontal slats instead of the earlier vertical pattern.

Along the sides, the styling is more restrained, with cleaner surfaces and fewer character lines. At the rear, the taillamps are slimmer and adopt a new lighting signature, complemented by a blacked-out section below. Overall, the design shifts towards smoother panels with minimal creasing. BMW has also added new exterior colour options and alloy wheel designs, now available in sizes of up to 22 inches — marking a first for the 7 Series.

2027 BMW 7 Series Facelift: Interiors & Features

The interiors of the BMW 7 Series facelift have received a complete makeover, transitioning towards the Neue Klasse range. As expected, the cabin adopts a minimalist approach with fewer buttons. Most physical controls are now on the steering wheel while the rest are integrated into the infotainment system. Speaking of the steering wheel, the new 7 Series gets a new vertical two-spoke unit.

The biggest highlight is the addition of the Panoramic iDrive full-width windscreen projection that complements the a 17.9-inch central touchscreen and a 14.6-inch passenger display. Interestingly, there’s no dedicated driver’s instrument cluster on this one. The system is powered by BMW Operating System X and brings support for over-the-air updates, enhanced navigation, and seamless smartphone connectivity. The voice control feature has also been upgraded, now incorporating AI-driven capabilities.

The owner of 7 Series is meant to be chauffeured around, hence, the rear seats become extremely critical. It continues to offer creature comforts such as a 31.3-inch Theatre Screen, that now supports 8K streaming, along with functions like video calls and gaming. An  18-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system with Dolby Atmos is available as standard while a 36-speaker unit from B&W is offered as an option. Other notable novelties include a panoramic glass roof, four-zone climate control, ambient lighting, and wireless charging.

2027 BMW 7 Series Facelift: Powertrain Specs

BMW will offer a host of powertrain options for the 7 Series depending on the market. The 740 xDrive petrol produces 395 bhp and 580 Nm of peak torque, while the 740d xDrive diesel develops 309 bhp and 670 Nm of torque. Both petrol and diesel engines benefit from a 48V mild-hybrid system. The plug-in hybrid 750e xDrive is expected to arrive in early 2027, delivering a combined output of around 484 bhp. A more V8 M Performance 760i version is in the pipeline too.

In the all-electric lineup, the 2027 BMW i7 adopts new sixth-generation cylindrical battery cells with higher energy density, increasing total capacity to 112.5 kWh. These batteries also support DC fast charging at up to 250 kW. The i7 60 xDrive produces 544 PS, offering a claimed range of 563 km and a 0–97 km/h time of 4.6 seconds. The i7 50 xDrive, on the other hand, develops 455 PS and completes the 0–97 km/h sprint in 5.3 seconds.
