The fourth-gen Maruti Suzuki Swift or rather the Suzuki Swift has already launched in Japan. The same is slated to make its way to our shores next month. Ahead of that, the Japan NCAP has crash-tested the compact hatchback, and with an overall rating of four stars out of five, the results are pretty impressive.
Although the India-spec Swift will be slightly different than the Japanese-spec model, crash test results will most likely differ when Bharat NCAP crash tests it again here.
For 2024, the Suzuki Swift comes equipped with ADAS. So, a series of crash tests had to be undertaken that not just checked the structural rigidity of the front, side, and rear of the car, but also how effective and accurate the driver assist system was. The overall score of the Suzuki Swift was 177.80 points out of 197, with 81 per cent scored in the collision safety performance.

In the full-wrap frontal collision test being conducted at 55 kmph, the Swift’s driver’s seat was awarded 4 out of 5 stars, while the frontal passenger side scored full five marks. But the most remarkable was its rear collision neck protection score, where the Suzuki Swift scored a full five stars. As for pedestrian protection, the Swift scored 4 and 5 for head and leg protection, respectively.

The Japan NCAP also took into account the accuracy of Swift’s new ADAS. In this department, Swift scored 99 per cent in total. Its Lane Departure Warning System and emergency braking system were also tested under various scenarios like vehicle to vehicle, pedestrian, etc. and the resultant scores were again quite impressive.

The 2024 Maruti Suzuki is set to launch in India in May. Bookings for the sub-compact hatchback have already commenced across all Maruti Suzuki showrooms for a token amount of ₹11,000. Given the updates the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Swift will debut with, we expect its price to increase from the current range of ₹6.72 lakh to ₹10.32 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
