Instagram has fine-tuned its interface for the Galaxy Z Fold series, addressing the unusual aspect ratio experienced on these devices. This adjustment is pertinent to all Galaxy Z Fold models. With the update, user interface buttons on the left of the feed have been shifted to the right. Significantly, the content is now aptly scaled for larger displays. Reels now display with black bars on the sides, whilst stories, images, and the remainder of the UI are more navigable.
The newly launched Galaxy Z Fold5, which we are presently reviewing, has incorporated this feature. Previous generations of the Fold series are set to receive this update in a staggered rollout.
However, it's worth noting that this update might not be introduced to other foldable phones, especially those adopting a passport-sized approach for their outer screen. This design choice invariably leads to a broader inner screen. The much-anticipated OnePlus Open, believed by many to be more affordable than the Galaxy Z Fold5 priced at Rs 154,999, may not benefit from this update.
Similarly, the Google Pixel Fold, unveiled at Google I/O earlier this year, is unlikely to receive this update. Moreover, this phone has seen a limited release and hasn’t yet debuted in India.
