JSW Motors will be setting foot in India’s passenger vehicle market later this year. Initially, the homegrown company will focus only on rebranded models from Chinese brands. As part of that, JSW has entered into a partnership with Chinese carmaker Chery to introduce multiple new models in the country. Chery has filed patent applications for multiple new models in India, the latest in the list is the Tiggo 7L.
A three-row electric SUV, the Tiggo 7L made its debut in the Chinese market recently. Upon arrival in India it will rival the likes of the Mahindra XUV 7XO, Tata Safari, and Hyundai Alcazar. That said, a patent filing doesn’t guarantee a market launch. It could simply be just an IP protection exercise from Cherry and JSW.
The Chery Tiggo 7L adopts a more distinctive design language. Up front, it features a redesigned fascia with a prominent spindle-style V-shaped grille, complemented by vertical, triangular elements on the bumper. The SUV also gets slim headlamps, semi-flush door handles, larger alloy wheels, and connected LED tail-lamps.

Overall, it appears slightly sportier than the standard Tiggo 7, while also offering a longer body and an extended wheelbase. Dimensionally, the Tiggo 7L measures 4,655 mm in length and sits on a 2,720 mm wheelbase. In comparison, the regular Tiggo 7 is 4,530 mm long and has a 2,670 mm wheelbase, making the 7L noticeably larger in both aspects.
Inside, the Chery Tiggo 7L is equipped with a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system paired with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. It supports Apple CarPlay, Huawei HiCar and Carlink, and also comes with features such as Level 2 ADAS and a panoramic sunroof. The infotainment and connected tech are powered by a Snapdragon 8155 chipset.

On the safety side, the SUV offers seven airbags along with a range of additional protective features. Compared to the Tiggo 7’s dual 12.3-inch integrated display setup, the Tiggo 7L uses a larger standalone infotainment screen along with a separate driver’s display.

The Chery Tiggo 7L gets two turbo petrol engine choices — a 1.5-litre unit and a 1.6-litre unit. The former pushes out 154 bhp while the latter develops 197 bhp.
