The fascia of the Kia Carens facelift hints that it could be the electric version.
The Kia Carens, launched in 2022, is due to get an update soon and the facelifted MPV has now been spotted testing multiple times. In the latest spy shots, the front-end design of the Carens has been the clearest yet.
The Carens is expected to get Kia’s new design language as seen on many new models from the brand. The spy shots show the MPV will get a full-width LED bar at the front along with C-shaped headlamps that look similar to the Kia EV5, hinting that it could be the electric version. Along with the new lights, the Carens facelift will get a slightly refreshed front bumper.
Furthermore, the Carens is likely to miss out on a panoramic sunroof as the test mule can be seen with a single-pane unit. The test mule also hints that the updated Carens will have a new dual-tone design for the alloy wheels. While the Carens facelift will get a new design for the taillamps, similar to the Seltos and Sonet facelifts, the profile and dimensions aren’t likely to change much.
The test mule of the updated Carens can also be seen with cameras on the ORVMs, hinting at the addition of a 360-degree camera setup. It could also come with Level 1 ADAS, similar to the Sonet facelift. While the interior of the Carens was not visible in the spy shots, expect it to come with features like a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, an air purifier, ventilated seats, a Bose-tuned audio system and more.
The Carens is likely to continue with the existing powertrain options which include petrol, turbo-petrol and diesel engine options. Gearbox options are likely to include a 6-speed manual, 6-speed iMT, 6-speed automatic and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. It is also likely to get an electric version that is due in 2025. Both ICE and electric versions of the Carens are likely to launch around the same time.
