A prototype of the Kia EV2 recently completed a performance test in Norway. The vehicle participated in the El Prix event organised by the Norwegian Automotive Federation. The trial took place in temperatures reaching minus 21 degrees Celsius. The car covered a distance of 310.6 kilometres before the battery ran out of power. The conditions included roads with snow and ice in the Jotunheimen region.

The vehicle under test was the 'GT-line' variant. This model features a battery with a capacity of 61.0kWh. The wheels on the car measure 19 inches. The target range for this specification under WLTP standards stands at 448 kilometres. The performance in Norway showed a deviation of 24.81 per cent from the target figures. The prototype finished ahead of other vehicles in the evaluation.
The charging system also underwent assessment during the drive. The battery charge increased from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in 36 minutes. The car utilises the E-GMP architecture from Kia. This platform operates at 400 volts. The production of the model currently takes place at the facility in Slovakia. The manufacturer plans to release the final WLTP figures in the third quarter of 2026.

You cannot help but acknowledge a resemblance between the design of the EV2 and the Syros. The Syros is a model for the market in India. Both vehicles feature a profile with a box shape and lights with vertical alignment. The front sections on both cars display a flat surface.
Kia India has plans to introduce a version of the Syros with an electric powertrain. The company has not announced the date for the launch. This new model will enter the segment that includes the Nexon EV and the 3XO electric. The Syros EV will sit alongside other SUVs in the portfolio for India. The strategy aims to offer an option for buyers seeking an SUV with battery power in the mass market. The introduction will place Kia in competition with Tata Motors and Mahindra.
