Kia India recently revealed the Syros, its second subcompact SUV in India, following the Sonet. While prices are yet to be revealed, the Syros will be on the pricier side in the subcompact SUV segment. The Syros will rival the likes of the Skoda Kylaq, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza and Hyundai Venue.

Apart from the XUV 3XO, all the subcompact SUVs have an overall length. And despite being shorter than the rivals, the XUV 3XO’s wheelbase is the longest of the lot. It is followed by the Kylaq and the Syros with 2566 mm and 2550 mm wheelbase, respectively. The XUV 3XO is also the widest of the lot, followed by the Syros and the Nexon as all three are wider than 1800 mm. The Syros is only 5 mm shorter in height than the Nexon which is 1685 mm tall. Overall, the Syros sits towards the top in terms of dimensions on paper but inside, it feels larger than the rest.

Like most of its rivals, the Syros has the choice of a petrol or diesel engine. The Kylaq is the only car to get a petrol engine only, and while the Brezza doesn’t get a diesel, it gets the option of a factory-fitted CNG kit. The XUV 3XO’s TGDi engine is the most powerful petrol engine of the lot, while the Venue’s naturally aspirated petrol engine is the least powerful. Even the diesel engine in the XUV 3XO is the most powerful option of the lot. While it is the case on paper, things will be different in the real world.
While prices for the Kia Syros will be announced sometime in February, we expect it to be priced between ₹9 - 15 lakh*. For reference, the Skoda Kylaq is priced between ₹7.89 - 14.40 lakh*, the Mahindra XUV 3XO is priced between ₹7.79 - 15.49 lakh*, the Tata Nexon is priced between ₹8 - 15.60 lakh*, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza is priced between ₹8.34 - 13.98 lakh* and the Hyundai Venue is priced between ₹7.94 - 13.53 lakh*.
