Koenigsegg, the supercar manufacturer from Sweden, has revealed its most radical supercar yet, called the Sadair’s Spear. The latest supercar, limited to just 30 units, has already been sold out. It’s another tribute to Christian von Koenigsegg’s father, Jesko von Koenigsegg, and is based on the Koenigsegg Jesko supercar.

Sadair’s Spear is named after Jesko von Koenigsegg’s racehorse of the same name, which Jesko last raced with in 1976. Like the horse, the Sadair’s Spear is designed for ultimate performance on the racetrack, but is also road legal.

Powering the Sadair’s Spear is the 5.0-litre, twin-turbo V8 engine that produces a massive 1300 bhp on petrol and 1625 bhp on E85 (85 per cent ethanol-blend petrol). It churns out 1500 Nm of torque at 5100 rpm. It also gets Koenigsegg’s radical flywheel-free 9-speed automatic transmission. At 1385 kg and with E85 power output, the Sadair’s Spear exceeds the Jesko and One:1’s power-to-weight ratio, which stands at 1:1.

Koenigsegg has also worked on the aerodynamics of the Sadair’s Spear. It gets an active double-blade rear wing that Koenigsegg claims gives it “maximum cornering traction at track speeds”. In addition to this, it also gets larger canards, bigger hood vents and reworked wheel arch louvres to improve cooling and downforce.

Inside, the Sadair’s Spear gets a lightweight, minimalist centre console and new carbon fibre seats. While three-point seatbelts are standard, they can be upgraded to track-ready six-point harnesses. The transmission can only be controlled via the paddle shifters behind the steering wheel.

Koenigsegg has saved some weight too, 35 kg in total. 2.6 kg has been saved through reduced sound deadening, 1.3 kg through the use of advanced carbon fibre techniques and by using lightweight interior and mechanical components.
