The 390 Adventure R dials everything up to eleven, making it the most hardcore 390 model yet
During the first ride of the KTM 390 Adventure, KTM officials have mentioned that even though the Austrian brand has just brought the X and standard trims so far, the 390 Adventure R could also be offered to buyers soon. KTM is gauging customer demand for the hardcore variant as it simply could be too much to handle for a lot of buyers. And in case there is a business case for the trim, it is just a matter of homologation that it will need to undergo for it to be available.
The 390 Adventure R was shown at EICMA 2024 but not at India Bike Week 2024, possibly hinting that KTM might skip the hardcore offering for our country, despite being built at the Chakan-2 facility. Another reason to support that logic is that for those who seek a primarily off-road focused 390, KTM will offer the 390 Enduro R in India soon, perhaps towards the end of March.
And essentially, both the Adventure R and Enduro R have nearly the same foundations, similar seat height and readiness to attack trails. Where the two differ is the design and features department. The former takes on a Dakar-ready bike persona while the latter is reminiscent of the great KTM enduro machines that have won prestigious enduro competitions for years, including the Red Bull Erzbergrodeo.
If KTM was to offer the 390 Adventure R in India, expect it to be priced at a premium over the standard trim, which currently retails at ₹3.67 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). We expect it to be lower than the ₹4 lakh mark but not by much. And if you want to know whether or not the standard 390 Adventure would be just enough for you, our review of the bike drops on February 25 at 10 am.
