The latest Lava models aim to be affordable entry points into the smartwatch category.
Lava has expanded into the smartwatch market with the launch of its new Prowatch smartwatch series, which includes two new models: the Prowatch ZN and Prowatch VN. These two models aim to be affordable entry points into the burgeoning Indian smartwatch category, as Lava looks to compete with leading brands such as Noise, Boat and Fire-Boltt.
The Prowatch ZN is Lava's flagship smartwatch. It has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and a PPG sensor for continuous heart rate and SpO2 monitoring. It sports a 1.43-inch AMOLED display with 466x466 resolution, 60Hz refresh rate, and up to 600nits brightness. It has over 110 sports modes and even games built in.
It supports Bluetooth calling and has sensors for tracking stress, sleep, and blood oxygen levels. Some other key features of the Lava Prowatch ZN include 150+ watch faces, IP68 water resistance, and up to 8 days of battery life thanks to a 350 mAh battery.
The Lava Prowatch ZN is available in Valyrian Grey and Dragonglass Black, with its body made of a corrosion-free Zinc alloy. Both options come with a silicon strap for Rs. 2,599, or you can also buy this watch with an additional stainless steel strap in the box for Rs. 2,999. Lava claims the metal strap has been tested for corrosion resistance for around two years. The Lava Prowatch ZN is powered by a Realtek RTL8763EWE-VP SoC and is priced starting at Rs 2,599 in India.
The more affordable Lava Prowatch VN has a slightly larger 1.96-inch curved-edge LCD display with a 320x386 pixel resolution and 500 nits peak brightness. It offers Bluetooth calling, 115+ sports modes, and an IP67 certification. It comes in Delft Blue, Moore Black, and Gull Grey and packs a 230mAh battery promising seven days of usage. Health monitoring capabilities include heart rate, SpO2, stress, and sleep tracking. The Prowatch VN comes with a silicon strap and is priced at Rs 1,999. The company is calling these prices a "special launch offer".
Both smartwatches integrate with Lava's proprietary ProSpot mobile app, which is available on the Play Store for Android smartphones. Lava offers a two-year warranty through its 700+ service centres. The Prowatch series will be available for purchase starting April 26 on Amazon, Lava's own website, and retail stores.
