Kawasaki stands to gain a double advantage by leveraging localised production and a timely launch during the festive season.
Kawasaki is gearing up to re-launch the Kawasaki Versys X-300 in India, with a focus on localised manufacturing to make the bike more price competitive in the market. The move is aimed at taking on the other single-cylinder offerings in the adventure segment available in India. The bike could be launched around the festive season in October to capitalise on the increased consumer spending during this period.
Kawasaki has successfully employed this strategy with the Ninja 300, which was also locally manufactured to reduce costs and increase appeal. The Kawasaki Versys X-300 has an old adventure bike-like rugged design. Its design looks very functional and is true to its roots, with a focus on durability.

The Kawasaki Versys X-300 is powered by a 296cc parallel-twin engine, producing 39 bhp and 26.1 Nm. The engine is known for its tractability and refinement, making it suitable for both urban commutes and off-road adventures. The bike features a six-speed gearbox with slip and assist clutch.
The Kawasaki Versys X-300's underpinnings include a lightweight frame, long-ish travel suspension, and dual-channel ABS, making it a capable and safe bike on various terrains. It comes with 19-/17-inch spoke wheels and tube-type tyres, making it well-suited for adventure touring.

In the Indian market, the Kawasaki Versys X-300 will face stiff competition from the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and the KTM 390 Adventure. Notably, KTM is also planning to update its adventure series. Will the aged Versys be able to take on the more established rivals remains to be seen?
