Lucid Air Sets World Record: 1,205 km On A Single Charge

Lucid Motors has earned a Guinness World Record for the longest journey by an electric vehicle (EV) on a single charge. 

The Lucid Air Grand Touring, driven by London-based entrepreneur Umit Sabanci, covered 1,205 km from St. Moritz, Switzerland, to Munich, Germany without any top up. Consequently, the company surpassed the previous EV range record by 160 km.

This marks Lucid’s second Guinness record with Sabanci, following a 2024 feat crossing nine countries on one charge.

Journey Details

Starting in St. Moritz, nestled in the Alps, the Air Grand Touring traversed a challenging mix of alpine roads, highways, and surface roads to reach Munich. This 1,205 km drive, equivalent to beat the prior record of 1,045 km set in June 2025. 

Lucid brags that the vehicle’s efficiency, powered by its proprietary electric powertrain, enabled this feat.

The Lucid Air Grand Touring, with a WLTP range of 960 km, has a claimed energy efficiency of 13.5 kWh/100 km. Its ultra-fast charging adds up to 400 km in just 16 minutes. 

Route Considerations

It must be noted that this record-breaking journey in question benefited from a significant elevation drop, with St. Moritz at 1,800 metres above sea level and Munich at 500 metres. 

This descent likely aided regenerative braking, thereby enhancing range. The route was also much longer than the typical 350 km path between the two cities. So, obviously, this range test was very well planned, and far from ideal for the average user.

Though mainly a publicity stunt, the Lucid Air proves its impressive efficiency. However, replicating that 1,205 km single-charge journey will demand carefully planned driving conditions.
