Mahindra Claims Top EV Spot as XEV 9S Leads Q1 FY27 Dispatch Charts

Homegrown automaker Mahindra & Mahindra has announced via social media that its XEV 9S has emerged as India’s best-selling electric passenger car for the first quarter of FY27 (April-June 2026).

While Mahindra hasn't revealed any comparative numbers, Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) factory dispatch numbers indicate that the XEV 9S secured the top position among individual EV models, comfortably outpacing rival offerings across the country.

According to SIAM dispatch data for Q1 FY27, Mahindra shipped 10,762 units of the XEV 9S to dealerships nationwide. It was followed by the popular MG Windsor, which recorded factory dispatches of 9,384 units, while Mahindra's coupon-style sibling, the XEV 9E, registered dispatches of 5,556 units during the same three-month period.

While Mahindra initially banked on the bold, unconventional designs of the XEV 9E and BE 6 to lead its EV sales, it appears that buyers prefer a more familiar approach. The XEV 9S, which essentially shares its body shell with the XUV7XO, has now emerged as the brand's best-selling electric model.
