The BE 6, XEV 9e and XEV 9S have pushed Mahindra past Rs 2 lakh crore worth of electric SUV dispatches since the first deliveries in March 2025, cementing its position as the clear number two in India's electric car market.
Mahindra & Mahindra has crossed 1 lakh cumulative billings of its Electric Origin SUV range — the BE 6, XEV 9e and XEV 9S — since deliveries began in March 2025, the company said on 1 October as it announced its September sales figures. The milestone, reached in roughly 18 months, was confirmed by Dr Velusamy R, President of Mahindra's Automotive Business, who said the company was "proud to have crossed the milestone of 1 lakh billing of our Electric Origin SUVs since launch." The figure refers to factory dispatches to dealers rather than retail sales to customers, and Mahindra has not disclosed an exact total or a model-wise split.
Group Chairman Anand Mahindra marked the occasion on social media, writing that it was "a milestone that we can't even pause to enjoy enough" given the pace of growth. The BE 6 and XEV 9e, built on Mahindra's INGLO electric platform, went on sale in March 2025 after opening bookings in February that year at over 30,000 units on the first day. The XEV 9S, a seven-seat variant, joined the line-up in January 2026 and has since become Mahindra's best-selling electric model, outpacing even the BE 6 and XEV 9e combined in several months this year.

The milestone lands at a moment when India's electric car market is expanding faster than most manufacturers anticipated. Retail sales of electric cars nearly doubled year-on-year in September, crossing 35,000 units for the first time, according to Vahan registration data. Mahindra held a 21.6 per cent share of that market, second only to Tata Motors at just over 41 per cent, and comfortably ahead of JSW MG Motor, whose share has nearly halved over the past year to 14.6 per cent as rivals have widened their model range.
That positioning reflects a deliberate strategy. Mahindra's electric SUVs are priced from Rs 19.45 lakh upward, well above the sub-Rs 15 lakh segment where Tata and MG compete most aggressively, yet the company has still managed to roughly double its volumes year-on-year without losing share in a market that is itself growing at a similar pace. For the financial year 2026 as a whole, Mahindra's electric car share rose to 21.2 per cent from 7.8 per cent the previous year — among the sharpest gains recorded by any manufacturer in the segment.

Mahindra has indicated it is working to expand electric SUV production capacity to meet demand, and has signalled interest in exporting the BE 6 and XEV 9e to European markets, where right-hand-drive variants are reportedly being evaluated against Euro NCAP safety standards. A further INGLO-based model, expected around 2027, is likely to extend the range beyond the current three-SUV line-up, though Mahindra has not confirmed specifications or a launch date.
