Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. announced that it has achieved a production milestone of 9 lakh units for the Scorpio SUV, marking a significant achievement for the brand that created the SUV category in India. For over two decades, the Scorpio SUV has stood as a true champion, evolving and reshaping the SUV landscape in the country. The legacy of the Scorpio moniker continues with the arrival of the Mahindra Scorpio-N and the Mahindra Scorpio Classic.
Veejay Nakra, President - Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., said, “We are deeply grateful for the unwavering support and loyalty of our customers, who have made the Scorpio an unrivaled icon in the SUV segment.”
R. Each generation of the Scorpio has garnered immense love and admiration from our loyal customers.”
The mid-sized SUV was launched in the country back in 2002, built for the global markets, and was conceptualised, designed by the in-house design team. It came powered by a 2.2-litre, VTG-turbocharged, VTG-turbocharged mHawk diesel engine that developed 138 bhp and 320 Nm of torque.
At present, the Mahindra Scorpio-N is one of the most popular SUVs from the homegrown carmaker and retains most of the ethos of the original Scorpio. The exterior maintains the rugged appeal, while the interior is now much more premium, targeting a whole new set of buyers.
