In a significant milestone for Indian automaker Mahindra, three of its popular models—the Mahindra Thar Roxx, Mahindra XUV 3XO, and the all-electric Mahindra XUV400—have each earned 5-star ratings in the latest Bharat NCAP (BNCAP) crash test evaluations. These impressive results highlight Mahindra’s commitment to safety, with all three models scoring 5 stars in both Adult Occupant Protection and Child Occupant Protection categories.

Notably, Mahindra continues the trend of high scores from BNCAP, whose evaluations have shown consistent top performance across tested models, barring the Citroen Basalt, which received a 4-star rating.
Starting with the Thar Roxx, BNCAP crash-tested the AX5L AT, and MX3 RWD trims of the 5-door SUV and the results apply to all the variants. The Thar Roxx scored 31.09 out of 32 for adult occupant protection, the highest points achieved by any car tested by BNCAP. In the frontal offset deformable barrier test, the Thar Roxx secured 15.09 points out of 16 while in the side movable deformable barrier test, the SUV scored perfect 16 points. The test report noted that the driver and front passenger had protection ranging from good to adequate.
The SUV received 45 points for child occupant protection out of a possible 49. The child restraint systems for both 18-month-old and 3-year-old dummies were installed rearward-facing in the rear seats, providing a dynamic score of 21 out of 24. The vehicle assessment score was 9 points out of 13, and a full 12 out of 12 points were awarded for the child restraint installation. These ratings apply to all variants of the Thar Roxx.
Next up is the Mahindra XUV 3X0 subcompact SUV, the facelifted version of the erstwhile XUV300. Tested were AX7L and MX2 trims, however, the results apply to all the trims. The XUV 3X0 scored 29.36 points out of 32 for adult occupant protection. In the frontal offset deformable barrier test, the XUV 3X0 secured 13.36 points out of 16 while in the side movable deformable barrier test, the SUV scored perfect 16 points. The test report noted that the driver and front passenger had protection ranging from good to adequate, while the shin area was marginally protected.
For child occupant protection, the XUV 3X0 achieved 43 points out of 49. The child restraint systems for both 18-month-old and 3-year-old dummies were installed rearward-facing in the rear seats, providing a dynamic score of 24 out of 24. The vehicle assessment score was 7 points out of 13, and a full 12 out of 12 points were awarded for the child restraint installation. These ratings apply to all variants of the XUV 3X0.
Lastly, the Mahindra XUV400. Bharat NCAP crash-tested the base EC L, and mid-spec EL LH (O) trims of the electric SUV. For adult occupant protection, the XUV400 scored 30.38 points out of 32. In the frontal offset deformable barrier test, the XUV 3X0 secured 14.38 points out of 16 while in the side movable deformable barrier test, the SUV scored perfect 16 points. The test report noted that the driver and front passenger had protection ranging from good to adequate.
For child occupant protection, the XUV400 achieved 43 points out of 49. The child restraint systems for both 18-month-old and 3-year-old dummies were installed rearward-facing in the rear seats, providing a dynamic score of 24 out of 24.
