Mahindra Thar Roxx Bookings Open; Receives 1,76,218 Orders Already

After making its market debut in August 2024, Mahindra has officially opened bookings for the Thar Roxx, a larger and more premium version of the popular Thar SUV. The bigger news though is that the company registered 1,76,218 bookings within 60 minutes of booking commencement. With deliveries set to commence this Dussehra, customers can now test drive the Thar Roxx at dealerships and experience the upgraded features of this new model in person. The Thar Roxx is priced between ₹12.99 lakh and ₹22.49 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom, India), catering to a wider spectrum of off-road enthusiasts and SUV buyers.

The Mahindra Thar Roxx distinguishes itself from the standard 3-door Thar with a more premium design. While it retains the rugged off-road character that made the Thar popular, it offers significant upgrades that enhance its road presence. Notable exterior features include a new 6-slat grille, giving it a more imposing front profile. The SUV also rides on 19-inch alloy wheels, which are larger than the ones seen on the regular Thar, adding to its aggressive and commanding stance.

LED lighting elements further enhance its modern appeal, making the Thar Roxx stand out in terms of style and functionality, especially when compared to the 3-door variant. These design updates position the Thar Roxx as a premium alternative to its smaller sibling, appealing to a broader customer base.

The cabin of the Thar Roxx also reflects its more upscale positioning. It offers a dual-tone black and white cabin theme with white leatherette seat upholstery. For customers seeking a different aesthetic, Mahindra has also introduced a Mocha brown cabin theme with matching brown seat upholstery, allowing for greater personalisation. 

In terms of features, the Thar Roxx is packed with premium amenities such as dual 10.25-inch screens, one serving as the infotainment system and the other as a digital driver’s display. A panoramic sunroof adds to the sense of space and luxury within the cabin, while a wireless phone charger and ventilated front seats cater to the comfort and convenience of passengers. 

Mahindra has prioritised passenger safety and advanced driving aids in the Thar Roxx. The SUV comes with six airbags as standard across all variants. Additionally, the inclusion of a 360-degree camera aids in parking and manoeuvring in tight spaces.

One of the standout features of the Thar Roxx is its Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), which includes modern driver aids such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane-Keep Assist, and Autonomous Emergency Braking. 

The Mahindra Thar Roxx is available with two engine options, catering to different performance needs and preferences- a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 2.2-litre diesel engine. You can check out the output in the table below. 

The Mahindra Thar Roxx enters a competitive market, taking on rivals like the Maruti Suzuki Jimny and the Force Gurkha 5-door, both of which are designed for off-road enthusiasts. However, the Thar Roxx also crosses into the compact SUV territory, where it competes with more urban-oriented models like the Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos.
