The Mahindra Thar Roxx has made its global debut in India and prices start at ₹12.99 lakh for the base petrol and ₹13.99 lakh (both prices ex-showroom, India) for the base diesel version. Mahindra will reveal the complete price list of the new Thar Roxx on August 15, but to give perspective, the Thar 3-door is priced between ₹11.35- ₹17.60 lakh (ex-showroom, India) for the diesel versions and between ₹14.30- ₹16.99 lakh (ex-showroom, India) for the petrol versions.

The Thar Roxx has a new body-coloured grille which gets six slats instead of seven. There are new circular LED headlamps with C-shaped LED DRLs, a slightly redesigned front bumper, new alloy wheel designs, door handles mounted on the redesigned C-pillar, new lighting elements in the square taillamps and a tailgate-mounted spare wheel.

Inside, the Thar Roxx gets Mahindra’s new 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 10.25-inch virtual instrument cluster, the same toggle switches for various controls for the car as well as for ventilated seats and HVAC controls on the dashboard, a panoramic sunroof and more.

Safety on the Thar Roxx has also been improved. It gets six airbags, ESC, hill-hold assist, ABS with EBD, three-point seatbelts with reminders for all seats, ISOFIX anchorages and more. It also gets a 360-degree camera and level 2 ADAS. Mahindra has also improved the structural rigidity of the Thar Roxx by using ultra-high-strength steel in various parts of the chassis.

As far as the powertrain options go, the Mahindra Thar Roxx comes with a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, mStallion turbo-petrol engine producing 158 bhp and 330 Nm of torque along with a 2.2-litre, four-cylinder, mHawk diesel engine developing 148 bhp and 330 Nm of torque. Although unconfirmed, expect the Thar Roxx to offer both 6-speed manual and automatic gearboxes.
