Ahead of the global debut later this month, Mahindra has teased the interior of XEV 9e and BE 6e electric SUVs. The brand had earlier teased the exterior of the two born-electric SUVs and the current crop of teasers reveals a lot of interesting information about the two e-SUVs.
As speculated, the XEV 9e will come with a three-screen layout for the dashboard and the three screens are likely to measure around 10.25-inch in size, but that remains to be confirmed. The XEV 9e will also have a touch-based control panel beneath the central AC vents with controls for the hazard lights, express cooling for the AC, parking sensors, passenger airbag switch, and more. The centre console will also house the electronic parking brake switch, auto hold button, and a dial for controlling the AC and volume as well as two cupholders.
The drive selector also seems to be similar to the one used in the XUV400, but looks like an advanced version with a slightly different design and an illuminated surround at the top. The teasers also hint at a panoramic sunroof with an illuminated version of the new ‘Infinity’ logo motifs embedded.
While the XEV 9e’s cabin might seem conventional-looking, the BE 6e’s cabin looks more radical and futuristic. It also has a three-screen layout on the dashboard but with three smaller screens. The three screens in the XEV 9e look like they will be similar in size, the middle screen in the BE 6e will be much smaller. The BE 6e’s drive selector also seems to be inspired by an aircraft. It also has ‘plus’ and ‘minus’ symbols but their functionality remains to be seen. Furthermore, the BE 6e will also get a similar dial in the centre console as the XEV 9e and have its start-stop button housed on the left of the drive selector. All these modules get illuminated surrounds. A panel swoops down from the dashboard to the centre console and it also houses an ambient lighting strip.
The BE 6e will get a new two-spoke steering wheel that has two toggle switches on either side with two regen buttons and two additional buttons on the left and ride sides too. This steering wheel is also likely to be present in the XEV 9e. The BE 6e will get futuristic-looking front seats with the headrests mounted on one pillar. The seats on the XEV 9e look more conventional and both are likely to get rear-seat entertainment screens as an option as mounts are visible on the seat backs. While the XEV 9e gets 'Infinity' motifs on the sunroof, the BE 6e gets a geometric pattern.
The two new EVs will debut on November 26, 2024, and are likely to go on sale sometime next year. Powertrain details for both are yet to be revealed and are expected to be disclosed closer to the debut date or even at the global premiere.
