New mid-variant makes it more affordable and offers sunroof, dual screens and more
Mahindra has launched a new mid-tier variant for the XUV700, the AX5 Select. Priced competitively at ₹16.89 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards, this new trim targets budget-conscious buyers seeking a feature-rich 7-seater SUV.
The AX5 Select bridges the gap between the AX3 and AX5 variants. Available exclusively in a 7-seater configuration, it caters to buyers looking for a spacious and feature-rich SUV. This offers a package of premium features at an attractive price point. Customers can choose between petrol and diesel engines with both manual and automatic transmission options. Read on for a closer look at the features and specifications of the new AX5 Select.
Variant | AX5 Select | AX5 | Difference |
---|---|---|---|
Petrol MT | ₹16.89 lakh | ₹18.19 lakh | (₹1.30 lakh) |
Petrol AT | ₹18.49 lakh | ₹19.79 lakh | (₹1.30 lakh) |
Petrol MT E | ₹17.39 lakh | ₹18.69 lakh | (₹1.30 lakh) |
Diesel MT (185 PS) | ₹17.49 lakh | ₹18.79 lakh | (₹1.30 lakh) |
Diesel MT E (185 PS) | ₹17.99 lakh | – | – |
Diesel AT | ₹18.99 lakh | ₹20.39 lakh | (₹1.40 lakh) |
Customers can choose between a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine making 197 bhp or a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine available in two states of tune - 154 bhp and 184 bhp. There is an option of 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The AX5 Select has several features which include a panoramic sunroof, dual 10.25-inch infotainment and instrument cluster screens, push-button start/stop, and second-row map lamps. It carries over features from the AX3 variant like wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 6-speaker sound system, and LED daytime running lights.
However, to maintain a competitive price point, the AX5 Select misses out on some features offered on the higher-end AX5 trim, such as LED headlamps, curtain airbags for all rows, a reverse camera, cruise control, and fog lamps.
This strategic launch by Mahindra caters to a wider range of buyers. The XUV700 continues to compete with established rivals like the MG Hector Plus, Tata Safari, and Hyundai Alcazar, while the AX5 Select specifically targets those seeking a feature-rich 7-seater SUV at a more accessible price point.
