Tata Aeris Dashboard, Tail Lights Revealed in Latest Teasers Ahead of Tomorrow’s Launch

Tata Cars is leaving very little to the imagination as it gears up to launch the new Aeris subcompact sedan on September 25. Two new teasers have revealed large parts of the car’s rear and its dashboard. The Aeris is essentially a facelift of the Tata Tigor but with a new name, as the company seems to want to give it a fresh, youthful appeal and differentiate it from the model that has become popular with fleet and taxi services. 

Just like previous teasers posted to Tata Cars’ official social media pages, the new ones confirm design details that we saw in a regulatory patent design filing earlier this year. It’s also clear that the car’s signature colour will be a bright purple, which will certainly set it apart in the market. 

As seen in one of the new video clips, the Tata Aeris will have a fairly thick bar connecting both tail lights, running across the trunk. It acts as more of a design element with some integrated LEDs, rather than a full light bar. Only its sides are illuminated, and a Tata logo sits in the centre. 

The video also confirms the LED headlight assemblies that we’ve already seen, with integrated DRLs. LED fog lamps are integrated into the bumper. Glossy black plastic trim on the nose of the Aeris connects the headlights. The teaser also shows a brief glimpse of an alloy wheel, with a visible disc brake.

A second video clip shows the inside of the Aeris, revealing a dashboard setup very similar to that of the recently refreshed Tata Tiago. There’s an upright standalone digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, a two-spoke steering wheel, a circular gear-shift knob, at least one wireless phone charging pad, and what looks like manual AC controls.

Overall, buyers can expect a car targeted at younger first-time buyers who want a sedan, but are put off by models too similar to fleet taxis. The Aeris is expected to have major cosmetic changes, but should carry forward the same 1.2L NA petrol engine and CNG options. An electric version would make sense as well, but it’s currently unknown whether that will be launched at the same time.

The new Tata Aeris will take on the immensely popular Maruti Suzuki Dzire as well as the Honda Amaze and Hyundai Aura when it launches tomorrow. Base pricing should be in line with that of the current Tigor, though higher-end variants with extra features and conveniences that appeal to young buyers could come at a slight premium. It is not yet known whether the Tigor will continue to be sold alongside it.
