Given Maruti's strong CNG lineup, the Grand Vitara CNG is likely to return, though it's yet to be officially confirmed.
Maruti Suzuki recently updated its Grand Vitara compact SUV in India, with prices starting at ₹11.42 lakh (ex-showroom). The update brought a host of significant improvements to the feature list across all variants, strengthening the SUV’s value proposition in an increasingly competitive segment. However, the launch was accompanied by the silent removal of the CNG variants from both the official website and brochure.
The Grand Vitara CNG was previously offered in the Delta and Zeta trims, priced at ₹13.25 lakh and ₹15.21 lakh, respectively. Its sudden delisting raises questions, particularly because CNG options form a cornerstone of Maruti Suzuki’s strategy in India. With most of the brand’s popular models offering a CNG variant, it is expected that the Grand Vitara CNG may return soon, though there is no official confirmation yet.
One of the standout upgrades in the 2025 model is the inclusion of six airbags as standard across all variants. This is a significant safety enhancement in line with evolving consumer expectations and upcoming safety regulations. Additional safety features now available as standard include electronic stability program (ESP), hill hold assist, ABS with EBD, front and rear disc brakes, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and three-point seatbelts for all passengers, ensuring a comprehensive safety package even from the base variant.
On the feature front, the 2025 Grand Vitara sees the addition of several comfort and convenience enhancements. These include an eight-way powered driver seat, electronic parking brake with auto hold (exclusive to automatic variants), an air purifier with PM 2.5 display, rear sun blinds, LED cabin lamps, and a newly designed set of 17-inch alloy wheels. These updates aim to make the SUV more premium, particularly in the higher trims, which are becoming increasingly important in this segment.
Mechanically, the Grand Vitara remains unchanged. It continues to be offered with two powertrain options — a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1.5-litre strong hybrid. The petrol engine is mated to either a five-speed manual or a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The hybrid variant uses an e-CVT and combines a petrol engine with an electric motor, offering higher fuel efficiency and lower emissions.
