Maruti Suzuki's Fronx could receive Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and a new hybrid engine option with the upcoming facelift, which is set to debut next year. Recent sightings of a partially camouflaged test mule of the Fronx on Indian roads have sparked speculation about including ADAS in the forthcoming facelift. Notably, the test vehicle was equipped with an ADAS sensor on the front grille, a feature absent in the current India-spec model. This has led to the belief that Maruti Suzuki may be planning to introduce a Level 1 ADAS suite with the Fronx, making it the first Maruti to get the feature.

While details remain speculative, the anticipated ADAS package could include features such as High Beam Assist, Lane Keep Assist, Vehicle Departure Alert, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and Lane Following Assist. If implemented, this would place the Fronx in direct competition with other models in the segment, such as the Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet, which also offer Level 1 ADAS. However, it would still trail behind the Mahindra XUV 3XO, equipped with more advanced Level 2 ADAS technology.
In a significant move towards enhancing fuel efficiency and reducing emissions, Maruti Suzuki is also reportedly developing a hybrid engine, known internally as HEV. The upcoming Fronx facelift is expected to be the first model to feature this new powertrain. The hybrid unit is likely to consist of a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder Z12E engine paired with a smaller 1.5-2 kWh battery pack and an electric motor. This setup will allow the engine to function as a generator, charging the battery pack and providing a more efficient driving experience.

Following the Fronx, this hybrid engine is slated to be rolled out across several other Maruti Suzuki models, including the new-generation Brezza, Swift, and the Baleno facelift. Maruti Suzuki has already begun exporting the Fronx to Japan. Interestingly, the Japanese-spec Fronx comes with features not available in the Indian version, including ADAS and Suzuki's AllGrip Select AWD technology. The export version also features a 1.5-litre petrol engine, which is not offered in the India-spec Fronx. The inclusion of AWD in the Japanese market suggests Maruti Suzuki’s intent to position the Fronx as a more versatile and capable vehicle in global markets.
