Maruti Suzuki India Ltd has announced a new prepaid service option for its customers. The Smart Maintenance Plan (SMP) is being pitched as a flexible, worry-free way for car owners to avail services at any authorised Maruti Suzuki service location across India. Plans will be available for private as well as commercial car owners, and there are various tiers and tenure options to suit each individual owner’s requirements.

Prepaid Smart Maintenance Plans will be offered to all car buyers as an optional add-on at the time of purchase, but can also be bought by existing car owners when visiting any authorised dealer or workshop for their usual service needs. As of April this year, the company’s after-sales network consists of 5,926 service locations across 3,000 cities and towns throughout India. The company opened 502 of these in FY 2025-26, its highest ever in a year, and aims to increase the total to around 8,000 locations in multiple formats by FY 2030-31.

Maruti Suzuki Smart Maintenance Plan Benefits and Tenure

Maruti Suzuki promises a minimum 10 percent overall cost benefit on labour, plus savings on components and consumables. Buyers are also locked in at prevailing service prices, which means they are insulated against any price increases during the validity of their plan. The exact prices of these plans have not yet been announced. Customers can choose to cancel a SMP at any time during the coverage period, and will receive their unused balance minus a 10 percent fee.

The plans on offer cover either only labour or parts as well as labour. Plans for commercial vehicle owners will have their own specific options. Engine oil and coolants can also be covered. Components subject to wear and tear, such as clutches and brakes, are also covered with certain options. As opposed to standard extended warranties, the SMP offering focuses on periodic servicing and maintenance needs.

Customers can also choose their preferred tenure and mileage coverage, with options including 2 years/20,000 km, 5 years/50,000 km, and 10 years/100,000 km (whichever comes earlier) for private vehicles, with offers for renewal. Plans for commercial vehicles offer coverage for up to 10 years/160,000 km.

In a press statement, Hisashi Takeuchi, MD and CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd said, “As customer expectations continue to evolve towards greater flexibility and personalised solutions, we are introducing the Smart Maintenance Plan. It is a prepaid service offering designed around individual driving needs… Through this initiative, we aim to further enhance convenience, trust and long-term value for our customers.”
