The Jimny will be made available in 2 variants and just 1 petrol engine option
Maruti Suzuki announced that it has received 30,000 bookings for the Jimny already. The company had showcased the car at the 2023 Auto Expo and had opened bookings for the SUV just a few weeks ago. India is the first market where the 5-door version of the Jimny will be sold and there has been a lot of interest around the car ever since the company kick-started production in India for export markets.
The company is all set to launch the Jimny in India in the first week of June and we expect the price to be very competitive. The Jimny will be only made available with a petrol engine. The 1.5-litre engine makes 103 bhp and has good enough torque on offer as well. The company will make the Jimny available in two variants – Zeta and Alpha - and both will come equipped with Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro All-wheel drive system.
The Suzuki Jimny will go up against the likes of the Mahindra Thar, which till now, has been the sole affordable off-roader in the country. But the Thar is as of now only available in the three-door and the five door version is expected to be launched by 2024.
