Maruti Suzuki India plans to add four more electric vehicles to its lineup by 2031 as the country's largest carmaker accelerates its push into battery electric mobility, a senior company executive has said, according to news agency PTI.

The announcement came as Maruti Suzuki held a delivery ceremony for its e-Vitara, handing over 108 units to customers in a single day. Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer for Marketing and Sales, said the event reflected growing buyer confidence in the brand as it shifts towards cleaner vehicles.

"We have announced in our midterm plan that by 2031, we are going to have four more electric vehicles in our portfolio and obviously, we will have to play across the sectors. So, everything is there in the pipeline," Banerjee said. He added that the company aims to become the leading player in the battery electric vehicle segment by the same year, with its approach guided by market conditions.

On pricing, Banerjee said a hike was unavoidable regardless of the situation in West Asia, given rising commodity costs. "However, the amount of hike will be announced soon," he said. He noted that the company exported close to 4.50 lakh vehicles in the previous financial year and that the full impact of the West Asia conflict on its operations was still being assessed.

The e-Vitara, built exclusively at Maruti Suzuki's Hansalpur manufacturing facility in Gujarat, has emerged as India's most exported battery electric vehicle in FY26. More than 25,000 units have already been shipped to 44 countries, with the vehicle destined for over 100 markets in total. It is Maruti Suzuki's first BEV engineered for both domestic and international sale.

To support wider EV adoption, the company is targeting a network of more than one lakh public charging points across India by 2030. It has already installed over 2,000 Maruti Suzuki-exclusive charging points nationwide and has a network of EV-ready service workshops backed by a trained workforce of 1.5 lakh personnel.
