Maserati will first bring the ICE versions of the Grecale with the all-electric Folgore version expected later this year.
Maserati has announced that the Grecale will be coming to India. Prices for the SUV begin at ₹1.31 crore and go up to ₹2.05 crore (ex-showroom, India). At the moment, Maserati has only announced the prices for the internal combustion engine (ICE) models while the all-electric Grecale Folgore will be introduced later this year.
The Grecale is the smallest SUV from Maserati, based on the FCA Giorgio platform that also underpins the Maserati GranTurismo, GranCabrio, Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio.
Cosmetically, the Grecale looks like a shrunken version of the Levante SUV but it has its unique touches. It gets a different grille, headlamps and slim taillamps connected by a chrome strip. The silhouette looks similar to the Levante but is significantly smaller.
Inside, the Grecale gets a plethora of displays such as a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and an 8.8-inch touchscreen for the HVAC controls. The analogue clock on the dashboard is now a digital version.
The Grecale gets a choice of two engines. The smaller one is a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with mild-hybrid assist. It is available in two states of tune where the entry-level GT variant produces 296 bhp, while the mid-spec Modena version develops 325 bhp. Both variants get an identical torque figure – 450 Nm. The GT variant can do the 0-100 kmph run in 5.6 seconds, while the Modena variant can do it in 5.3 seconds. Both variants have a top speed of 240 kmph.
The other engine, only available with the Trofeo variant, is the 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine that is also available in the GranTurismo and GranCabrio. It produces 523 bhp and 620 Nm and can sprint from 0-100 kmph in 3.8 seconds with a claimed top speed of 285 kmph.
Maserati has a few units that are ready to be delivered. However, new units will have a claimed waiting period of around 6 months, while a customised version will take around 8 months. The Grecale will primarily rival the Porsche Macan which is priced between ₹96.05 lakh - 1.53 crore (ex-showroom, India).
