The C-Class and GLC will be based on Mercedes-Benz’s new MB.EA architecture.
At the third edition of the Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) conference, Mercedes-Benz confirmed that it will launch the all-electric versions of the C-Class and GLC. These upcoming EVs will be based on the new MB.EA architecture.
While not much is known about the upcoming C-Class and GLC EVs, the latter can be expected to be a successor to the EQC, Mercedes-Benz’s first all-electric model. However, it remains to be seen if the GLC EV will be called GLC EV or if it will revive the EQC nameplate since all Mercedes-Benz follow the EQ naming scheme. If so, the GLC EV could be called the EQC SUV.

The GLC EV has also been spotted testing on multiple occasions in the past few months. Spy shots show that Mercedes-Benz is also working on an AMG version, alongside the regular GLC EV. Powertrain details about both versions of the GLC EV remain under wraps.
Like the GLC EV, the C-Class EV has also been spotted testing on multiple occasions recently. Furthermore, expect Mercedes-Benz to also launch an AMG version of the C-Class EV. As far as naming goes, the C-Class EV could likely be called the EQC, in line with other Mercedes-Benz EVs.

Spy shots of the C-Class EV show that, unlike the ICE C-Class, the all-electric version will have a fastback-like roof. This could probably be done to reduce the drag and make the C-Class EV more efficient.
While Mercedes-Benz hasn’t mentioned when the GLC EV and C-Class EV will launch, expect both to arrive only after 2025. Once launched the GLC EV will rival the likes of the BMW iX3 and Audi Q6 e-tron. Similarly, the C-Class EV will compete with the BMW i4, the upcoming production version of the BMW Neue Klasse sedan and the BYD Seal.

At the ESC Conference, Mercedes-Benz also mentioned its upcoming electric architectures. Along with the MMA architecture, that underpins the Concept CLA, and the MB.EA, Mercedes-Benz is also developing the AMG.EA and VAN.EA architectures. While the latter has already debuted on the new EQV MPV, the former will underpin the upcoming all-electric successor to the AMG GT 4-Door Coupe.
