The all-new Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV is the third electric product in the company’s India line-up.
Mercedes-Benz India has launched the all-new Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV in the country at an introductory price of Rs. 1.39 crore (ex-showroom, India). The all-new Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV is the third electric product in the company’s India line-up after the Mercedes-Benz EQS and the Mercedes-Benz EQB electric SUV and slots in between the two. For reference, the Mercedes-Benz EQS is priced at Rs. 1.59 crore, while the Mercedes-Benz EQB is available at Rs. 77.50 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
The Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV is the multipurpose variant of the EQE executive sedan and is available with the innovations found in the EQS. At the same time, it is more dynamic than the EQS SUV. However, it is more compact than the EQE sedan, at 3030 mm, it has a wheelbase that is 89 mm shorter. The external dimensions are 4864 mm long, 1940 mm wide, and 1684 mm tall. As the fourth model after the two EQS and EQE sedans, as well as the EQS SUV, the EQE SUV uses the new all-electric platform.
The modular drive concept enables the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV to offer a wide range of maximum total outputs, from 288 bhp to 402 bhp. Fitted standard with a 90.6 kWh battery, the EQE 500 4MATIC delivers 449 km of range, according to EPA estimates. In the EQE SUV, the lithium-ion battery consists of ten modules. The Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV features a thermal architecture with a heat pump as standard. This makes the system work very efficiently: the waste heat from the electric drive (inverter and electric motor) and also the high-voltage battery can be used to heat the interior.
The Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV has a distinctive front, combined into a black panel unit and consistently continues the face of the new generation of Mercedes-EQ vehicles. As an optional extra, the black panel front is also available with the Mercedes-Benz three-dimensional star pattern. The DRLs and LED headlamps are standard, while the Digital Light is available as an optional extra. The simulated under guard gives the front a robust character. Depending on the equipment, it features a high-gloss chrome or dark finish. An air intake is integrated into the component.
The side windows have a generous, dynamically running chrome surround in a 3D design. On EQE SUVs without this option, a three-dimensional chrome trim divides the lower area. The large wheels in sizes ranging from 19 to 21 inches, together with the muscular shoulder area, give the EQE SUV a sporty, robust character. The light strip at the rear is continuous. The reversing camera is hidden behind the star, protected from dirt. Depending on the design and equipment line, a chrome underguard sits in the black surroundings of the lower bumper.
The fact that the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV is based on an all-electric architecture also opened up new design possibilities for its safety concept. And because there is no large engine block on board, the behaviour in a frontal crash could be modelled even better. In addition to the standard crash tests, the car's performance in various additional load situations was verified and extensive component tests were carried out at the Vehicle Safety Technology Centre (TFS).
