Mercedes-Benz India has introduced two new vehicles to its 2025 portfolio: the G 580 with EQ Tech and the EQS 450 5-seater SUV. The latter, positioned as a more affordable entry in the EQS SUV range, aims to broaden the appeal of the brand’s electric offerings in the country. Priced at ₹1.28 crore (ex-showroom, India), the EQS 450 SUV will serve as the entry-level variant to complement the existing EQS 580 4Matic and Maybach EQS 680 SUVs in India.
The EQS 450 SUV is equipped with the same 122 kWh battery pack found in its seven-seater sibling. The twin-motor electric drivetrain generates 536 bhp and 858 Nm of peak torque, ensuring strong performance. For charging, a 200 kW DC fast charger can replenish the battery from 10% to 80% in just 31 minutes, offering convenience for users on the go.
The design of the EQS 450 SUV aligns with Mercedes-Benz’s hallmark aesthetic for electric vehicles. Key features include LED headlights connected by a light bar and a blanked-off grille extending into the lower front bumper, giving the vehicle a sleek and modern look. Redesigned 21-inch alloy wheels add a fresh touch, while the overall aerodynamic profile remains similar to that of the EQS 580.
Inside, the EQS 450 SUV offers a luxurious experience. Notable features include Energising Air Control Plus for air purification and handcrafted seat coverings as standard. The cabin features a 17.7-inch central touchscreen, a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, and a front passenger display for an immersive infotainment experience.
The EQS 450 SUV retains many features from its higher-end sibling, the EQS 580. These include a 5-speaker Burmester audio system, a 360-degree camera, 5-zone automatic climate control, and dual 11.6-inch rear entertainment displays. Safety is a priority, with Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), nine airbags, and other cutting-edge measures included as standard.
