With this launch, the company now boasts six electric vehicles in its Indian lineup.
Mercedes-Benz India has expanded its electric vehicle (EV) lineup with the introduction of the new EQS electric SUV. The high-end electric SUV comes with a price tag of ₹1.41 crore (ex-showroom, India) and marks the fifth EV model from the German luxury automaker in 2024. This launch further strengthens Mercedes-Benz’s commitment to electrification in the country, building on its existing electric portfolio.
The new EQS SUV completes Mercedes-Benz's high-end electric vehicle range, joining the recently introduced Mercedes-Maybach EQS electric SUV. With this launch, the company now boasts six electric vehicles in its Indian lineup, which includes the EQS Limousine, EQA, EQB, EQE SUV, the ultra-luxurious Maybach EQS SUV, and the newly added Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV.
The EQS SUV mirrors the design philosophy of the Maybach EQS SUV, featuring a crossover silhouette complemented by large wheels positioned at the edges. Key exterior design highlights include a prominent grille-less front face, massive 21-inch alloy wheels, and sleek, connected tail lamps – a feature that has gained significant popularity in modern luxury EVs.
Inside, the EQS SUV offers a luxurious cabin equipped with Mercedes' signature MBUX Hyperscreen, which provides a seamless and intuitive digital experience. The interior is designed for comfort and luxury, featuring electrically adjustable rear seats and a spacious three-row layout akin to its internal combustion engine counterpart, the GLS SUV. Additionally, the EQS SUV comes packed with a comprehensive feature list on par with its sedan sibling, the EQS, including rear entertainment screens, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), seat massagers, and mood relaxation programs to enhance passenger comfort.
Offered in the top-spec EQS 580 trim, the EQS SUV comes equipped with a powerful 122 kWh battery pack, which provides a claimed range of up to 809 km on a single charge. The electric powertrain consists of dual motors, enabling all-wheel drive (AWD) capabilities. The system generates a total output of 537 bhp and 858 Nm of peak torque. This makes the EQS SUV not only a luxury cruiser but also a performance-oriented EV for those seeking an engaging drive with 0-100 kmph sprint taking just 4.7 seconds.
The Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV arrives in India as a completely built-up (CBU) unit, bringing with it the latest in electric vehicle technology from Mercedes-Benz. The launch of the EQS SUV places Mercedes in direct competition with other premium electric SUVs in the Indian market, such as the BMW iX and the Audi e-tron SUV.
