Since 1995, Mercedes-Benz has been assembling its cars and SUVs in India.
Mercedes-Benz has been assembling cars in India since 1995, and it has just now rolled out its 200,000th car that is assembled at its plant in Chakan. This vehicle was an EQS SUV, finished in Golden and currently, Mercedes-Benz India assembles 11 cars and SUVs.
The first car that Mercedes-Benz India assembled in Chakan was the W124 series of the E-Class in 1995, and it took Mercedes-Benz 19 years to reach the 50,000 cars assembled milestone. In the next 9 years, Mercedes-Benz India assembled another 100,000 cars. The final 50,000 cars took just 2 years and 3 months.
Mercedes-Benz India also started assembling Maybach models, starting with the S500 in 2015. It also started assembling electric vehicles in India, with the EQS 580 Sedan being the first model which has been assembled in India since 2022. Mercedes-Benz India has already invested ₹3,000 crore in India, and invested ₹200 crore in India.
