The C-Class gets a new powertrain, while the GLC comes with added features
Mercedes-Benz India has launched new powertrain options on the C-Class and the GLC SUV and along with that introduced upgrades on the feature front as well. The C-Class now gets a new powertrain in the form of a powerful petrol motor. The C 300 AMG Line now replaces the C 300d which was part of the company’s line-up earlier. In fact the C-Class is now available with 2 petrol and 1 diesel powertrain – C 200, C220d and C 300. There has been a price revision as well as the 2024 C-Class now begins at ₹61.85 lakh (close to a lakh more than when it was launched in 2022).

While earlier, the C-Class would top out at ₹62.70 lakh, the C 300 is now close to ₹ 7 lakh more expensive. But for that additional price, you do get a host of features. It gets sporty AMG Line exterior and Interior styling with ‘Night Package’, Burmester 3D surround sound, Digital lights, Keyless-Go comfort package, Augmented reality navigation and Blind spot assist, all of which are exclusive to the C 300. The C 200 and C 220d also get significant updates, and now feature ventilated front seats, 360-degree camera, fast-charging USB-C ports, digital key handover and adaptive high beam assist thus enhancing the comfort, safety and tech in the car.
It, in fact, also gets a new colour options - Sodalite Blue and MANUFAKTUR Patagonia Red. The interiors have been updated with the centre console, featuring a metal structure trim and fast charging USB charging ports.
The C 300 is powered by a 2-litre, 4 cylinder unit churning out 255 bhp. 0-100 kmph is done in just 6 seconds. It comes with integrated starter alternator (ISG) that can support the internal combustion engine with up to 23 bhp of additional output and up to 205 Nm of extra torque. Unique to the C 300 engine is the overboost function. The C 300 engine provides 20 kW (27 hp) of additional overboost output for approx. 30 seconds. The overboost function can also be activated several times in succession – until the defined temperature limits are reached.
The new 2024 GLC now gets ventilated front seats and side airbags in the rear taking the count of airbags in the GLC to 9. Prices for the GLC now begin at ₹75.90 lakh for the GLC 300 4MATIC and ₹76.90 lakh for the GLC 220d 4MATIC.
