Mercedes-Benz Unveils Updated GLE and GLE Coupe Models

Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the facelifted GLE and GLE Coupe SUVs. The company has introduced updates to the design, engines, and technology of both models. The new GLE features a larger grille with an illuminated central star and contour lighting. Headlamps include two horizontal star motifs. The company fits the MBUX Superscreen as standard across three 12.3-inch displays.

Engines receive upgrades for more power. The GLE 580 4MATIC V8 model produces 530 bhp and 750 Nm torque. The GLE 450 4MATIC six-cylinder petrol engine delivers 560 Nm torque. Diesel options include the GLE 350d and GLE 450d 4MATIC with electric heating catalysts. The GLE 450e plug-in hybrid offers 106 km electric range under WLTP. All models use a 48-volt system with integrated starter generator.

The GLE Coupe shares these powertrains and adds a sportier profile. It comes with AMG Line interior and sports seats as standard. The model has a shorter wheelbase by 60 mm compared to the GLE SUV.

Mercedes-Benz has equipped both models with its MB.OS supercomputer and AI for over-the-air updates. Assistance systems use ten cameras, five radar sensors, and 12 ultrasonic sensors. AIRMATIC suspension includes cloud-based damper control for road bumps.

The India launch will follow the global rollout. Expect the new Mercedes-Benz GLE facelift SUV and GLE Coupe facelift to arrive in 2027 after homologation and RTO approvals.

The current GLE contributes to Mercedes-Benz's core luxury segment sales in India. This segment made up 62 per cent of its 2025 total sales of 19,007 units. The GLE and GLC SUVs recorded high sales in September 2025. Overall numbers fell 2.85 per cent from 2024, but revenue hit a record. The facelifts may help sustain demand in the SUV segment.
