Meta AI can now be accessed across Meta's platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and more.

Meta today announced a major upgrade to its AI assistant, Meta AI, which is powered by the company's latest natural language model, Llama 3. According to Meta, the updated Meta AI is designed to be helpful, harmless, and honest. It can now be accessed across Meta's platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger, as well as a dedicated website at meta.ai.

Powered by Meta's state-of-the-art Llama 3 model, Meta AI is designed with new advancements in AI and natural language processing and is available for free use. It can understand language better and have more human-like conversations.

The Meta AI is claimed to be faster and more accurate, offering new generation capabilities. It can now generate high-quality images from text descriptions in real-time through a new "Imagine" feature. Users can watch as Meta AI brings their ideas to life through images that continuously update as more details are provided.

The Meta AI also gains new abilities like animating images, changing styles, and converting images to GIFs. The company says image generation is now noticeably better at incorporating text elements and representing diverse concepts.

Meta is rolling out the upgraded Meta AI more widely, with direct integration into search across its family of apps. It allows users to access information and Meta AI's assistance without switching apps. The company aims to make Meta AI accessible across more Meta platforms, including VR and AR.

With Llama 3 under the hood, Meta believes Meta AI now delivers a best-in-class AI assistant experience that will be invaluable for users worldwide. The rollout is starting in more than a dozen countries with English support including Australia, Canada, Ghana, Jamaica, Malawi, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, Singapore, South Africa, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe, with further regions and languages planned for the future. There's no word whether India will be amongst the list of countries receiving support in the second wave.

In a video posted on Instagram, CEO Mark Zuckerberg said, "Our goal is to build the world's leading AI. We're upgrading Meta AI with our new state-of-the-art Llama 3 AI model, which we're open sourcing. With this new model, we believe Meta AI is now the most intelligent AI assistant that you can freely use."
