Upon launch, the MG Hector Facelift will rival the likes of Tata Harrier and the upcoming Mahindra XUV 7XO.
MG Motor, now JSW MG Motor, landed in India with the Hector in 2019 which received generous response back then. However, Hector’s sales have declined sharply over the past year — dropping from 21,474 units to 8,414 units, with October 2025 recording just 225 units, its lowest monthly figure in a year. With over seven years in the market, the Hector has already received a couple of facelifts.
MG has now shared a new teaser confirming the launch of another Hector facelift scheduled on 15 December 2025. The same has been released on the company's official social media handles. In the latest teaser video, the silhouette of the SUV is partially shown signifying that it is indeed Hector, although there’s no actual visual of the vehicle available.

The short teaser video comes with a message that reads “It’s been a while. Get ready to be surprised”. The most likely possibility is a design overhaul of the MG Hector along with a few feature additions. This will be Hector's first significant update since MG Motor India forged an alliance with JSW, and early indications suggest the company is preparing a more premium, feature-rich version of its flagship ICE SUV.
Few sightings of the upcoming MG Hector Facelift have already gone viral on the internet. These spy images have suggested cosmetic changes such as newly designed five-spoke alloy wheels and a revised rear bumper with an updated skid plate. Minor changes are also anticipated on the tailgate to enhance overall styling. At the front, the grille is likely to receive a redesigned look, while the DRLs are expected to retain the same shape as the current version, maintaining a familiar visual signature.
Besides cosmetic changes, MG is expected to bring in some feature updates to the Hector facelift most notably an updated in-car connected suite. The new suite is expected to offer a smoother and more intuitive user interface. Convenience features like rear ventilated seats should also make the cut. Further, the updated Hector is likely to receive an expanded set of ADAS features.
Mechanically, the MG Hector is expected to remain unchanged. There will be two engine options on offer: 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol and 2.0-litre Multijet diesel. The former, paired with either a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic transmission, pushes out 141 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque. The diesel, on the other hand, delivers 168 bhp and 350 Nm of peak torque while mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
