MG Majestor will directly lock its horns with Toyota Fortuner which presently retails between ₹34.78 lakh and ₹50.46 lakh (both ex-showroom).
JSW MG Motor is gearing up to launch the Majestor soon. First displayed at the Auto Expo last year, the burly SUV made its official debut earlier this year. MG has already revealed the Majestor in its entirety barring the official prices. Upon launch, it will rival other D-segment SUVs where Toyota Fortuner remains the undisputed king.
While the Fortuner is known for its indomitable road presence, the Majestor seems to eclipse the former with its enormous dimensions. Speaking of which, the MG Majestor measures 5,046 mm in length, 2,016 mm in width, and 1,876 mm in height along with a 2,950 mm wheelbase, making it the longest, widest, and tallest in its segment.
However, it isn’t just dimensions where the Majestor overpowers the Fortuner. A video that recently surfaced online has showcased the might of the Majestor over the Fortuner. In the video, a Majestor is seen locking up within the Fortuner over a bout of tug of war. Both SUVs lock horns for three bouts of tug of war and as seen in the video the Majestor completely rolls over the Fortuner in all three occasions.
The main difference between the two SUVs is their powertrain on offer. The Fortuner gets a 2.8-litre diesel engine, which produces 201 bhp of and 420 Nm of peak torque with MT. With an AT, the engine has 500 Nm of peak torque. It also gets a 2.7-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 164 bhp and 245 Nm of peak torque.
On the other hand, the MG Majestor gets a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine that produces 213 bhp and 478 Nm of peak torque. While the video doesn’t reveal which powertrain is the Fortuner running on, it seems improbable that it is the diesel automatic whose power and torque outputs are comparable to the 2.0-litre oil burner of the MG Majestor. Both SUVs are packed with an optional 4x4 drivetrain with locking differentials and low-range.
