The MG Majestor used for this stunt was a stock unit with no engine or drivetrain modifications and/or no traction-enhancing alterations.

JSW MG Motor is all geared up to officially launch the Majestor in India on 20 April 2026. Having made its debut earlier this year, the Majestor will be MG’s new flagship SUV in the country that will most likely replace the Gloster. Pre-bookings for the Majestor are currently underway for a token amount of ₹41,000.

Ahead of its launch, the D-segment SUV has set a new milestone that has found its place in the Guinness World Book of Records. The Majestor has earned the title for “Heaviest Train Pulled by a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) on Rail” for successfully pulling a 406.4 tonne train over a distance of 300 feet.

This act was carried out on a secured railway section between Kakapora railway station and Awantipora railway station in Jammu and Kashmir.  This achievement surpasses the Guinness World Records qualifying benchmarks of 400 tonnes and 100 feet, establishing a new global standard for SUV capability. MG says the Majestor used for pulling off this stunt was a stock unit with no engine or drivetrain modifications and/or no traction-enhancing alterations.

The record attempt subjected the SUV to extreme load conditions, putting its traction management, torque delivery, and structural integrity to a rigorous test. The exercise was closely monitored by independent automotive and motorsport experts to ensure complete transparency and credibility. It was verified that the train’s movement was powered solely by the MG Majestor, with no external propulsion or assistance involved. Additionally, the vehicle demonstrated stable and controlled performance throughout the entire pull distance.

Every aspect of the attempt — from the train’s weight to the track conditions and the distance covered — was carefully recorded and documented in line with Guinness World Records verification standards. The train itself, made up of a WAG-9HC locomotive, multiple passenger coaches, and a guard coach, was independently assessed and confirmed to weigh 406 tonnes.

Speaking on this achievement, Anurag Mehrotra, Managing Director, JSW MG Motor India, said, “This achievement is a powerful demonstration of what the MG Majestor is engineered to deliver. It reflects our focus on building vehicles that combine strength, precision and control, even in the most demanding conditions.”
