JSW MG Motor India will replace the ZS EV with a new SUV called the S5 EV. The latter is based on the same Modular Scalable Platform (MSP) as the MG4 hatchback and is slated to go on sale in Europe later this year. It will then make its way to India sometime in 2026, whence it will compete with the Hyundai Creta EV, Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara, Tata Curvv.ev, and the Mahindra BE 6.
The S5 EV will debut with a different body design. While the SUV format remains, it now looks sharper and sleeker. The front is characterised by a new split front grille design at the lower lip, and the LED daytime running lights atop give it a nice aggressive stance. Dimensionally, it measures 4476 mm long, 1849 mm wide, and 1621 mm tall from the ground. With a wheelbase of 2730 mm against the ZS EV’s 2585 mm long wheelbase, the S5 EV will have quite a spacious interior.
Inside, the MG S5 EV debuts a completely new cabin with a new dashboard at the centre, on which sits a big 12.8-inch infotainment screen. Besides, features like ventilated seats, a panoramic sunroof, and Level 2 ADAS are also available.
In global markets, the MG S5 EV will be available with two battery packs—49 kWh and 64 kWh. The India-spec model is expected to get the bigger battery as the only option that will be good for around 500 km of claimed range. It is also capable of charging from 10 to 80 percent in just 28 minutes using a 139 kW charger.
